Branding Mesa was an interesting challenge as we had to embrace the true spirit of a restaurant that doubles as a wine cellar and a bistro. How did we create a convergence of the three? Through a name that stands for community. Mesa, Spanish for "table," was what we started with. A name that resonates a sense of gathering, community, and shared moments.
Our logo design was a testament to the dynamic nature of the space. We created an ‘M’ letter mark that cleverly transforms into a table and a sommelier’s scale, celebrating the confluence of Spanish gastronomy and fine wines. The notch in the M further expands and contracts to fit three formats that the restaurant would eventually expand to - a Deli, a Pop Up and a Bistro.
The branding seamlessly extends to various touchpoints, taking a cohesive approach. The business cards elegantly feature the signature notch with a Spanish-inspired copy – ‘Come Back for Amore’, reinforcing the brand's identity with each interaction.
We designed custom graphics for the wallpaper that were inspired by Spanish foliage, adding a touch of freshness to the space. The copy on the walls acts as the perfect conversation starter, as well as an Instagram-worthy corner, for corporate employees that frequent the place after a long day’s work.
The cover of the menu becomes a tactile experience woven in cane, carrying a European touch in the most minute of illustrations — a touch that's reflected in the colour palette as well.
We adorned the walls with a whimsical tale of diving into the experience, or in our case, a wine glass that keeps the ambiance alive long after that last sip of wine.
